form Theresa (Ivan’s Girlfriend) who has first had knowledge of Ivan’s race-by-race
and day-to-day experiences.
Ivan felt
pretty good going into the race this last weekend at Las Vegas! He was excited
to race the West Coast Supercross riders and to be able to compare them to the
East Coast riders. Practices went good (there was only a Saturday practice),
but he had only one complaint that the track was quite slick causing Ivan to
slide out in the second practice.
In the main event Ivan had a decent start (about third place), but had to do
the first section slower and more careful than his competition to prevent a tangle-up
with other riders. Four or five riders got by him, but it kept him on two
wheels. He quickly moved up to fifth where he stayed for a while. He steadily
worked up to second and finished there!
He is very pleased with his finish and only wished for a better start, but God
kept him relaxed and logical about what to do. He also is extremely thankful
for the safety God blessed him with. He also prayed for the safety of the
several riders that had wrecked, Bubba in particular. I think everybody was very
happy and relived to see him (James) at the banquet. Our prayers were with
their family after we saw what had happened. Ivan was very excited about the
race. He felt good, relaxed and ready.
All in all, Ivan feels the season was absolutely a test of patience and
perseverance. While things did not start the way he would have planned at the
beginning of the season, Gods plan was much more exciting than Ivan ever
planned. He is thankful and excited for Glen Helen and the start of the
Outdoor Nationals.
He has been doing a lot of testing and is ready to go!
