CARLSBAD, Calif., (Sept. 26, 2005) – Monster Energy/Pro
Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ivan Tedesco put the ultimate exclamation point on what’s
been the greatest 125 class motocross season in recent years. Teaming with
motocross greats Ricky Carmichael and Kevin Windham, the New Mexico native
brought the hallowed Motocross Des Nations title back to the United States for
the first time since 2000. The Des Nations win for Tedesco
goes with his recent AMA Motocross Championship 125 class win, along with the
THQ/AMA Supercross Series’ 125 Western Regional title. Tedesco, racing the MX2 class on
his Monster Energy Drink-backed, Pro Circuit-tuned Kawasaki KX250F, put in a
solid sixth place finish in one of the motos – highlighted by Tedesco holding
off former GP champion veteran Sebastien Tortelli for sixth place overall
(which turned out to be some very important points for the American squad). “I can’t express enough how proud
I am to have helped bring home this trophy to the United States,” said Tedesco
as he held aloft the Motocross Des Nations trophy for the first time in his
career. “You hear the stories of all the greats – Ward, Bailey, O’Mara,
Johnson, Stanton and McGrath. All the great American racers who have worked so
hard as a team to win this legendary race. I’m truly honored to have been part
of this historic weekend in France.” Tedesco, who was recently on the
cover of “Cycle News” and pictured inside in a full page spread holding the
AMA’s 125 class No. 1 plate above his head, along with a can of Monster Energy
Drink, added that this was one heck of a way to close out the motocross season. “To be able to close out the 2005
motocross season with a win at the Motocross Des Nations is something I’ll
never forget,” he said. “I’d for sure like to thank my teammates, RC and K-dub,
along with team manager Roger DeCoster, my sponsors – Monster Energy, Pro
Circuit and Kawasaki and thanks to Loretta Lynn for kicking in to help get us
over here. What a great way to end my best season of motocross ever!” |
