Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s
Ivan Tedesco picked up his first holeshot and his best Amp’d Mobile AMA
Supercross result of the season after finishing fourth at Saturday night’s San
Diego AMA Supercross seventh round at Qualcomm Stadium.
“This was definitely a break-through weekend for me,” said Tedesco after the
race. “I was able to get some seat time on the Makita Suzuki RM-Z450
during the week and that really paid off. What I’m most excited about is that
Chad Reed only beat me by about 10 seconds and I know I can improve on that.”
Tedesco lined up in the night’s second heat race in front of more than 60,000
screaming Southern California fans. He got a great start and finished a strong
second place.
Said Tedesco: “This weekend went a lot better than the previous one. My
Suzuki was working better after the changes we made during the week. I was
particularly happy with my heat race because I got into second place pretty
quick - and that was where I finished.”
In the 20-lap Main Event, the 25 year old beat all comers and got the holeshot.
The former Supercross and Motocross Lites Champion rode a smooth and consistent
race and brought home a fourth-place finish.
“I was as happy with the Main as I was with my heat race,” said Tedesco.
“It was a good race: I got the holeshot but was a little slow to get going and
I got passed by a few guys. I didn't really get going good until about halfway
through the race and by that point the leaders had too much of a gap on me.
Again, it was definitely a break-through weekend for me and it’s good to have
something to build on.”
